Berkem is an international company with a strong focus on Research and Development and well-established expertise in the design and production of technical electroplating processes based on precious metals (Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, Au, Ag).

Berkem operates as a formulator and manufacturer of electroplating solutions, managing the entire process development cycle in-house: from chemical process design to the synthesis and production of compounds, from raw material control to the definition of operating parameters required to ensure process stability, industrial repeatability and compliance with application-specific specifications.

Unlike job platers or simple distributors of electroplating products, Berkem develops its solutions starting from pure substances and compounds, often reaching direct chemical synthesis from pure metals. This approach, adopted by only a few companies worldwide, enables a complete and in-depth understanding of the electroplating process.

This level of expertise allows Berkem to design, adapt and optimize high-performance surface treatments according to real application needs, including behavior on different alloys, response to load variations, compliance with emerging regulations and compatibility with subsequent treatments.

Direct collaboration with Berkem as a formulator enables the definition of technical process specifications, supported by in-house R&D laboratories and integrating functional requirements, base material characteristics, regulatory constraints, and control and traceability systems. The company’s role also includes the development and supply of standard or custom-engineered chemical solutions, when application requirements are not addressed by existing market processes.
